Oo-De-Lally!

Well here we are, first poast time. Again. I forget how many times I've been here and quite frankly I don't really want to know. I'm not sure if the two dozen failed or abandoned blogs shows my determination or lack of sanity.

What I do know though is that unlike in the past, this blog has no fixed goal. That might sound counter-intuitive, but I'd only get bored trying to stick to a preordained niche and timetable anyway.

Although having said that, there are a few reasons why I'm doing this.

The first is that I'd really like to get into the habit of writing regularly in the hope that it'll kick-start me into being a bit more proactive on the book writing front (there are a few ideas in the pipeline,) so if anything I suppose you could call this blog a very inefficient means of self marketing.

That nobody reads.

But the best overall reason for writing a blog such as this, is that I get to call myself a "blogger", a title which exonerates my pretentious behaviour and allows me to spend large periods of time (and money) in franchised coffee shops under the auspices of 'work'.

As for content? Its a mixed bag that'll run alongside my Youtube channel, incorporating topics such as history, esoteric and paranormal subjects, wildlife, walking, camping and general commentary on life and society. I hope to have at least one of the books I'm working on released by this time next year, (we'll see how it goes) so there will probably be posts on that too as time goes on. There's also essays on here which I'll post up from time to time, (they can be found in the sidebar) some of which at well over 10,000 words, are too long to be posted in a normal blog format.

Its going to be a busy year next year for me, but its going to be good to finally start something I enjoy doing, and I'd love for you to join me here and on my Youtube for discussions and general musings!
